Our virtual workshops

All workshops run from:
13.30 - 17.15 on Saturday afternoons

Upcoming Dates:
We will announce more dates later in 2024

Description:

Since our first virtual workshop in April 2020, we have now welcomed over 300 writers, some established and some just starting out, from all around the world.

Our half-day, virtual workshops offer the inspiration and opportunity for writing, stimulated by inspiring prompts, delivered throughout the afternoon, Zoom calls for collaboration and interaction and an online group for real-time sharing and constructive feedback.

Every participant receives access to all of the following materials, support and media

  • Zoom calls at the start (13.30) and conclusion (16.30) of the workshop,  for discussion, community building and sharing

  • Stimulating prompts, sent throughout the afternoon to your inbox embracing character, location/genre, plot, dialogue, point of view, poetry, screenplay and editing.

  • Inspirational examples from literature, art, music and drama sent throughout the day and in advance.

  • A closed online community for real-time sharing, encouragement and feedback if desired

The tone is constructive and supportive and there is no pressure to share your work if you would prefer not to do so.

We guarantee to get you writing!

Clara Challoner Walker

After an  international career in banking and IBM,  Clara refocused in 2014 on her lifelong passion for writing and shortly thereafter fulfilled her desire to set up her own business, Cosy Cottage Soap Limited.

Under the  Ings Press imprint, Clara published her novel 'A Tapestry of Vice and Virtue' and launched it at The York Literature Festival in 2015. She met fellow tutor Janet Dean on the Masters’ Course in Creative Writing at York St John University where they developed the Awakening The Writer Within concept and through which they have now hosted over 20  events, both face to face and  virtually, in the UK and abroad.

Clara says: "Our approach is based on a coaching style. We help people discover what's inside and how to put it on paper. Over the years we have worked together, we have proved that we really can get people writing.”
